About Joy
I've always been fascinated by movement and the incredible ways our bodies can adapt, heal, and express themselves. Looking back, I can see that every step of my career has been guided by one simple question: How can we move through life with greater ease, less pain, and more joy?

After earning my BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase, I pursued a professional dance career in New York City while working as one of Manhattan's first in-home personal trainers. It was there that I began asking a question that would shape the rest of my career: Why were so many people living with pain, and what could I do to help?

The answer first came through the Alexander Technique. After my very first lesson, I was amazed by how profoundly gentle, skilled touch could change the way I felt. It opened my eyes to the powerful relationship between the mind and body, and I knew I had found my life's work. I completed a 1,600-hour teacher training and spent the next 30 years helping people move with greater ease and awareness.

As my understanding grew, so did my curiosity. I wanted to find approaches that combined modern science with practical tools people could use every day. Discovering The MELT Method was another turning point. Learning about the neuro-fascial system transformed the way I work, giving my clients simple, effective ways to reduce pain, improve mobility, and support healthy aging.

That same curiosity eventually led me to Tai Chi and Qi Gong. I've studied these practices for more than a decade and continue my training with Nick Loffree, where I've earned my Level 1 Integrative Qi Gong Teacher certification. Along the way, I also became a Functional Aging Specialist, deepening my understanding of how we can stay active, capable, and independent throughout our lives.

Today, I bring these disciplines together—The MELT Method, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and functional fitness—to create a thoughtful, whole-body approach to healthy aging. As someone who still dances and depends on my body every day, I understand the importance of staying strong, balanced, and resilient. My goal is to help you move with greater ease, reduce pain, and feel confident in your body, so you can continue doing the activities you love for many years to come.
